Day 5

Day 5, I had an apiphany. ‘As a tourist, I make a good motorcycleist.’

I rode past countless tourist attractions but had no urge to stop. All I wanted to do was ride. Blowholes, forest walks, Tasmanian Devils, Penguins…. Meh! they can wait for another time, I’ve got riding to do!

The roads here are fantastic! They must have been created by some kind of motorcycling genius. Mile after mile of tight twisties and fast sweeping curves. Through rolling hills and mountain forests they just go on and on.

I only wish I had a camera attached to the front of my bike, because the moments I want to hold on to are all those perfect rides I’ve had every day that I’ve been here. Freezing cold or not.

The highlight of today’s ride was Scottsdale to St Helens on the east coast. It had everything…. including some dodgy roadworks, loose gravel and several sphincter tightening moments, but that’s another story.

I was so caught up in riding I only took a couple of pictures the whole day.

Day 4

The morning of day 4 started off fine and sunny, but as the day went on it became overcast and as usual, bloody cold from the constant westerly wind.

I decided to just head west and see where I’d end up.

I passed a lot of fields with these flowers growing in them. I don’t what they were, but certainly made for interesting scenery.img_0953

I got as far as Stanley, but by lunch time I’d had enough of the bitterly cold wind and decided to make for the east coast.

So after leaving Stanley I went on mission to reach the east side of the island before night. I made it as far as Scottsdale, but an issue with accommodation meant I had to ride further to Bridport in the north east.

No picture of Bridport, not really worth the effort to be honest.

Day 3. Arrive in Tassie

Off the  boat, a quick stop at Customs and I’ve arrived in Tasmania to a cold wet morning.

My Ride

A quick ride west and I was in Wynyard in no time at all. I spent the whole day here just taking it easy and catching up on lost sleep.
